LOVABLE THINGS.
(By Phyllis Clark, Graham's Beach, via Onehunga; age 13.) I love the tui's wild, clear call, From high on 3'on puriri tall, A crescent moon, o'er dark pine tips, The sweet, red curve of baby's lips, The fragrance of a daphne spray, Fresh as the moon, sweet as the day. I love Jack Frost's white fantasies, Here delicate ferns, there frail trees; The pink peach blooms, of early spring, The rapture that the skylarks sing. Pearl-like drops of morning dew, Glist'ning with lights of every hue. -—Original.
