QUEEN MARY'S GIFT.

Queen Mary has gone through the music at the home of her sister-in-law, the late Princess Victoria, at Coppins, and has decided to. present it to the headquarters of the National Council of Girls' Clubs.

The collection consists of the songs and violin and piano pieces of Princess Victoria, her mother, Queen Alexandra, and her brother, the Duke of Clarence. Many of the pieces are autographed with their names. Princess Victoria's favourite songs are bound together in handsome crimson morocso covers. One volume includes a number of Tosti's songs and other popular melodies of the day, such as "Because" and "Land of Hope and Glory." The Princess' hymn tune and hymn music, folk songs, ■old; waltzes and gavottes are in the collection.

The Council of Girls' Club makes a feature of a musical festival each year, and is endeavouring to build up a music library. ft ~
