MURDER DENIED.

AUSTRALIAN CLERK'S DEFENCE (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, August 31. Robert Sheridan Moore, a clerk, was remanded on a charge of wilful murder of a fellow Australian, John Towers, at a flat in Clerkenwell, by stabbing him in the neck with a knife. Moore denied that he wilfully murdered Towers, and explained that the latter was liis best pal. They had been drinking together and had a row. Towers was very provocative and very insulting and was armed with a flatiron. Moore said he then picked up a table-knife in selfdefence.
