ATHENIAN CLUB.
One of the most enjoyable gatherings given by the Athenian Club was held on Saturday evening, when Miss Hazel Rainey was the hostess for an entertainment entitled "A Siamese Night." The stage setting was an elaborate Siamese temple, with Oriental tapestries, huge lanterns and puff floor cushions. On the curtains being drawn, two slaves were seen carrying bowls of incense, which Altered, through the hall. A dance duo, "A Temple Tragedy," was excellently rendered by Miss Doris McGowan and Mr. John Smith, both artists wearing handsome Oriental costumes. During the entertainment Oriental brooches were given to the ladies and Siamese hats. The programme comprised: Vocal solos, Miss Beryl Smith and Mr. Wynn Corboy; violin, Mr. Roy Maxwell; Lyric quartet, Messrs. Ripley, F. Campbell, Alan McElwain and Thomas; humour, Alan McElwain; magician, "Cardo". The accompanists were Miss Elva Carr and Mr. Trevor Sparling. Among those present were: Mesdames Arthur Roberts, H.
