RECENT ARRIVALS.
SOME RIDING ENGAGEMENTS. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this clay. The Southern horses, Dun-mure, Bandy Boa and Money Mine, arrived at Riccarton yesterday after being quartered for some time at Wash-dyke. T. R. George arrived from the North this morning with Diamond and Boomerang, while G. A. Reid came from Hawera with Ruaform. Although the Southland gelding Dunmure has arrived at Riccarton, he will not fulfil his engagement in the Grand National Steeplechase, but lie may be a starter in other events later at the meeting.
Doubt concerning the riding of Punchestown in the Grand National Steeplechase has been settled. He will be handled by H. Turner, who has been associated with the gelding in practically all his schooling.
So far no arrangement has been made for the riding of High Speed in the Grand National Steeplechase, but there is a possibility of V. Langford having the mount. Nothing will be done, however, until his owner has /been consulted. The following riding engagements have been made for the Winter Cup:—A. E. Ellis, Concertpjtcli; G. H. Humphries, Polity; 13. A. jviesservy, Royal Gallant; L. J. Ellis, Wino. There i>3 a possibility that the Christchurch Hunt Club will hold a race meeting to take the place of the one that had to be abandoned on Saturday. Saturday, August 29, is the date the committee lias in mind, and if the meeting is gone 011 with a fresh programme will be drawn up.
