RICCARTON JUMPERS

MANAWATU GOES WELL. (By Telegraph.—l'rcss Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The jumpers provided most of the interest in work at Riccarton this morning, a number of steeplechasers going over tlie schooling fenccs, while a few hurdlers also did their share in their department. Brevity (A. Stove) opened proceedings with a good display over four hurdles. Bandy Boa (V. Langford) jumped twice round the fences, ten in all, taking every obstacle cleanly at a useful pace. Silk Sox (H. Dulieu) jumped once round the hurdles. He scrambled over the first, but cleared the other three in good style. Parasang (X. Trillo) and Royston (R. Beale) were companions over eight fences. The former gave a good exhibition, but Royston did not please at any of the obstacles, though he got round safely. High Speed (V. Langford) and Cock o' the Xorth (M. Reilly) were sent oyer five fences, starting up the back. High Speed was slow at the fence at the top of the straight, losing several lengths, but he was on terms with his mate at the double. Cock o' the North running off at the second leg. Redolent (C. Hughes) went over four hurdles. He did not please at the second and fourth, but he jumped the other two very well. Noeturnus (C. G. Humphries) led Acena (A. Stove) over a round of the fences. Noeturnus jumped well, while Acena shaped satisfactorily for a novice. He refused twice at the sod wall, but eventually cleared it in good style. Saltspray (A. W. McDonald) and Santoft went over six hurdles, giving a good exhibition at a sound pace. Manawatu (A. \V. McDonald) started off along the back and jumped five.fences. He did not have much pace on, but he jumped very well. Tliurina pleased in a school over eight fences yesterday afternoon. He was ridden by his Grand National pilot, W. J. Bowden, and gave one of his usual polished displays, while moving at a sound pace. He pulled up well and showed no ill-effects after he had cooled down. This morning he accompanied Burglar in strong work flat.
