WELLINGTON, this day.

The Minister of Labour, the Hoii. R T. Armstrong, has been in close consultation with the parties to the Napier shipping liold-up for several days with the object of assisting towards a settlement of the difficulty. Negotiations are still in progress, but the Minister was not in a position to-day to comment on the situation.
