STUDY PROVIDED.
MEDICAL STAFF'S NEED
HOSPITAL IMPROVEMENT.
The authorisation of a study in the residential quarters of the junior medical officers at the hospital was announced by the chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, tlio Rev. W. C. Wood, in his first report to the board this afternoon.
The chairman stated that in company with Mr. E. 11. Potter, chairman of the building committee, he had visited the quarters of the medical officers, at the request of the finance committee, to inquire into an application for heating in the bedrooms.
The visit revealed the fact that the medical officers were without suitable study accommodation and in order to secure quietness were forced to retire to their bedrooms, the report added. The excessive cold made it advisable to pro-' vide a suitable study. It was therefore decided to furnish the largest bedroom in the building, in which there is a lireplace, as a study. This would leave a shortage of one bedroom. The matron proposed that a sleeping porch be erected for her use, off her sitting room, thus relieving the room occupied by her at present to replace the one taken as a study. "As this was a cheap and effective method of dealing with • the situation, and demanded immediate attention, I, with the sanction of the chairman of the buildings committee, authorised the work to be proceeded with," the report said.
