AUCKLAND ROTARY CLUB.
TRIBUTE TO MR. BARTIiEY. The president, Rotarian D. Henry, occupied the chair at to-day's lunch meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club, held in Milne and Clioyce's reception hall. There was a large attendance and among the visitors were Dr. Merrington and Messrs. G." G. Adess (Dunedin), L. J. Taylor and J. R. Mackenzie (Christchurch),, P. Lyttle and W. B. Lark (Sydney), N. Alexander (Dannevirke), C. 8.. Jones (Cambridge) and Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P. Reference was made by the president to the recent deatli of the late Mr. Clem. Bartley, and members stood for a few moments in silence as a token of respect. In welcoming the visitors, the president made special reference to Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., and extended the club's wishes for a good trip and a liappy time in the Old Country. Sympathy was expressed with Rotarian John Clark, who was absent through illness. The speaker of the day was Sir Geo. Richardson, whose subject was "New I Zealand's Need of Defence." The vote of thanks was moved by Rotarian R. Milligan.
