OVER £200 COLLECTED.
Y.W.C.A. STREET APPEAL MANY HELPERS THANKED. A sum which is expected to total more than £200 was donated in the city and suburbs to the Young Women's Christian Association in the jubilee appeal held yesterday by the association. In the city itself £185 was obtained, but the result of collections in the suburbs was not available at a late hour to-day. "We are grateful for the response made by the public," said an official of the association to-day. "A particularly gratifying feature of the collection was the generosity of the childi-en." It was stated that far more donations were received from children than were obtained in the association's last appeal two years ago.
Twelve outside organisations gave their help in the collection, and to these the association also expresses its gratitude. About 200 collectors represented these organisations in the appeal, which lasted from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. There were 21 stalls and collections were made at several schools.
