OPERATIC MUSIC.
SOCIETY OF MUSICIANS. The vocal circle of the Society of Musicians met on Thursday evening when operatic music was the selected subject for the programne. Mrs. A. G. Hallani spoke briefly on the development of the orchestral side of opera, with . special reference to the subtle scoring of Debussy. The instrumentalist guest Mrs. Charles Prime, played two brackets of pianoforte solos, "Cappriccio" (Longo), "Les Barricades Mysterieuses" (Couperin) and "March Wind" (MacDowell) and an excerpt from "Three Four Suite" (Coleridge-Taylor). Miss Gwen Wilkins and Miss Margaret Young, accompanied by Miss Doreen Collins and Miss Laurie Young, sang "Far Away Lies a Land" and "Behold Titania" from "Mignon" by Thomas. Miss Edna Smith sang "Night" (Schubert), accompanied by Mrs. Prime, who also accompanied Mr. Prime in a humorous interlude of light operatic
SOlipS. Mr. William D. Webber tliankcd the speaker and guests 011 behalf of the members and supper was served at the conclusion of the programme.
