PARADES AT APIA.
Orderly Mau Demonstrators From Savaii.
NO ACTION TAKEN BY POLICE. APIA, May 3. Ten large fautasi (rowing boats) containing 3£>o men and flying Mau flags appeared off Apia Harbour on Friday afternoon. Later the men landed on the beach road between the Mulivai and Vaisigano Rivers.
This Mau malaga (visit for the purpose of demonstration) was from Savaii, the party being headed by Autagavai, 'a well-known chief of Palaulj. The visitors stated that they intended to parade publicly through Apia.
On Saturday afternoon tlie Mau paraded from Tauese to Vaimoso with bands and Mau flags, and held a ceremony of the presentation of foods to the Mau Central Committee now assembled at Vaimoso.
. Since the middle of April malaga parties have been arriving at Mulifanua from Savaii, camping in the villages between there and Apia. It was their intention to reach Apia 011 Anzac Day and to parade with brass bands and Mau flags and to wear Mau uniform, but the weather delayed them. There has been no disorderly conduct and 110 action has been taken by the police.
