MR. RICHARD HOE.

Mr. Richard Hoe, a member of the Auckland Education Board, died at his residence, Sadgrove Terrace, Mount Albert. He was 70 years old, and had spent all his life in New Zealand. Nearly eight years ago Mr. Hoe was elected to the Education Board as one of the representatives of northern school committees. He was one of its representatives both on the Technical College board of managers and on the Grammar School board. Mr. Hoe's term with the board was to expire in July next, and it is probable that it will not be necessary to hold a special election in his case. Regarding Mr. C. F. Collins, however, whose death occurred last week, he had still more than two years of office ahead of him, and an election will be necessary in his case.
