TOGETHER IN DEATH.
A BROTHER AND SISTER. OLD OPOTIKI RESIDENTS. (By Telegraph.— Own Correspondent.)
OPOTIKI, this day. The deaths occurred last night, within two hours of each other, of two of Opotiki's oldest residents, a brother and a sister. They were Mr. T. Abbot, of Waioweka, and Mrs. C. Connelly, of Opotiki.
Mr. Abbot had been ailing for a c6nsiderable time.
The late Mrs. Connelly, who was predeceased by her husband about three years ago. was born in Dundee, Forfarshire, Scotland, in 1840. At the age of 28, accompanied by her brothers and a sister, she came to New Zealand in the sailing ship Fernglen, landing at Auckland. She came to Opotiki, where sho resided for 60 years. When the Duki» of Gloucester visited Opotiki he stopped at the home of Mrs. Connelly and her sister, Miss Abbot, and conversed with, the old ladies for several minutes.
