CUT RESTORATION.
HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES' PAY. DECISION OF BOARD. The Auckland Hospital Board decided yesterday afternoon to restore, as from October 1 last the 10 per cent cut imposed in 1931 to all employees who have not already received a restoration equal to or greater than the cut. The matter came forward by way of a notice of motion by Mrs. M. M. Dreaver, and the question was disposed of after brief discussion. "This is not a new motion as far as I am concerned, yet it is ever new," said Mrs. Dreaver in presenting the notice of motion. "I feel that the only hope of helping the people of Auckland, and those "right throughout the Dominion, back to prosperity is for every local body to do as I propose and restore the 10 per cent cut." The Auckland Board, j she considered, should give a lead to
others. Dr. J. P. Hastings considered that Mrs. Dreaver was on the right lines. Mr. E. H. Potter questioned whether the board could accept the motion as a trading scale had been adopted by the board and given effect to. Perhaps the resolution might be amended to provide that power to make the restoration take into consideration the scheme of grading in operation. Otherwise it would bo necessary to rescind the motion relating to {Trading. The chairman (Mr. W. Wallace) ruled that the motion was in order and it was then put and carried.
