T.T. MACHINES.
AUSTRALIAN BIDEBS. RACES AT MTIRIWAI. Amongst the riders who have already sent in their entries for the New Zealand Tourist Trophy race, to be held at Waiheke Island on New Year's Day, are tho owners of a couple of very fast machines. The mount which J. Dale intends to ride is the Rudge on which A. Bradley, of Nelson, won the race last year, being consequently selected by the A.C.U. as the Dominion representative in the International T.T. races in the Isle of Man. Having received severe head injuries in a spill while practising on the Isle of Man course, Bradley has definitely given up racing, and has sold his machine to Dale. An International Norton will be ridden by Dixon, who is coming from Kawakawa to ride in the race, while C. Melhuish has imported the latest thing in J.A.P. engines, which he intends to install in a Velocette frame. Two other riders beside Dale, J. Anderson and E. Anderson, have entered Rudges. By the next mail entries are expected from two leading Australian riders, L. Tobin and W. Williamson, who have already written to the Auckland Motor Cycle Club, under whose auspices the race is held, asking for particulars and suggesting that they might come across the Tasman to compete. They suggested that the club should pay their fares and find them accommodation, but the club has replied that, while it was willing to do tho second, the cost of the fares would be too big a strain on tho club finances. Tho Australians have been advised that entries close definitely on November 17 and that it is the club's hope that theirs will be received. Both riders have a more than Australian-wide reputation. L. Tobin, who rides a Norton, was the winner of the Australian Senior Grand Prix last year. Tests Postponed. Owing to the likelihood of tho rain damaging the electric timing apparatus, the speed trials which the Auckland Motor Cycle Club intended to hold at Muriwai Beach on Sunday were postponed, but will be held in the near future. Two ten-mile races were held, however, one for solo machines and one for sidecar outfits. Both were won by P. Hookway, on a Norton, while W. Marett, on a 8.5.A., also scored places in the two events. Results were: Solo Machines.—F. Hookway (Norton) 1, W. Marett (8.5.A.) 2, C. Buchanan (Royal Enficld) 3. Combinations. —P. Hookway (Norton) ]. W. Tetley (Harley Davidson) 2, W. Marett (8.5.A.) 3. Rosebank Park. The Auckland Motor Cycle Club will hold a run to Rosebank Park next Sunday, riders leaving from the club rooms at'lO a.m., and sports events will be held at the park. Further points for the Points Cup will be allotted according to placings in the run. Hill Climb. A site at Mangere has been tentatively ehoKen by the committee of the Auckland Motor Cycle Club for the holding of a hill climb in the near future, and several of the club members will try it out next week-end. Affording to those who know it, no machine will be able to reach the top. and placings in the contest will therefore be according to how far up. each contestant can go.
