FALSE PRETENCES ALLEGED. : " TWO MEN REMANDED. A motor driver, John Francis Bruce, aged 39, and a labourer, Clement Matthew Alick, aged 24, who had been arrested, both appeared in the Police Court this morning, charged with obtaining £8 from Wong Lock by falsely representing that a pakapoo ticket bearing nine marks was a winning ticket in a pakapoo lottery drawn on October 27. They were further charged on the same date with obtaining £1 from Wong Young by a similar false pretence concerning a ticket bearing seven marks. Senior Detective Hall obtained a remand until November 12. Mr. Burns appeared for accused, who were allowed bail each in a surety of £50.
