ST. ANDREW'S SOCIETY.

To celebrate Hallowe'en, the St. Andrew's Society of New Lynn arranged a "bairns' niclit," which was thoroughly enjoyed by young and old alike. The programme for the evening was comprised of items by the society's variety band and minstrel party, Highland dances by Miss Phyllis Davis, a minuet by the Misses Jean and Doris McKenzie, the ventriloquist, "Mack," and his lifesized doll, Sandy, and numerous humorous sketches by members of the society. After supper had been served by the ladies' committee, apples and bags of sweets were distributed among the bairns. The evening was concluded with several Scottish dances, the music being supplied by the piper, Mr. A. Livingstone, and the St Andrew's Society Variety Band.
