SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
A well-attended meeting of women of the Roskill electorate, organised by the Mount Albert branch of the W.C.T.U., enjoyed an address in the Methodist schoolroom, Mount Albert, on Thursday last, delivered by Mrs. A. J. Stallworthy, her subject being "Our Obligation and Our Opportunity." Musical items by Mesdames Le Pettit and Owens were also much appreciated, and afternoon tea concluded the programme.
In the tastefully decorated Orient tea r6oms, Newmarket, on Saturday, about li) 0 guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves at an evening given by Mr. and Mrs. S. Ward, of Richmond Road, to mark the coming of age of their son, Morris. Mrs. Ward received her guests wearing a grey angel skin frock. The toasts of the guest of honour and the | parents were honoured in the customary way from a large claret cup and in addition to an excellent programme of dancing individual items were contributed, an outstanding item being American tap dancing by Miss Irene Long.
