The sum or ten guTneas was donated to the funds of the Nortlicote Roman Catholic Church as the result of "a successful afternoon social, organised by the ladies' committee of St. Mary's parish and held in the convent schoolroom. The gathering of 200 ladies, which included a large number of visitors, was welcomed by Mrs. D. P. O'Leary. The programme, which was greatly enjoyed, comprised songs by Mrs. T. McKnight, Misses Mitchell and Nancy O'Connor, recitations by Misses Mary and Peggi Cruicksliank, pianoforte solos by Miss Pauline Rogers, tap dance and Irish jig by Misses Barrington and Lind. The accompaniments were played by Mrs. T. Joll and Miss Mitchell. Afternoon tea was served by the committee.
