MENTAL HOSPITALS.
Most sincere thanks from returned soldiers, their relatives and the Soldiers' Mothers' League are extended to the Hon. J. Alexander for his plea for a separate criminal mental hospital that should be (greeted apart from that housing ordinary mental patients. Nor must gratitude be withheld from, the Mayor for strongly supporting the petition of the S.M.L. in asking for an inquiry into certain defects existing at the Mental" Hospital concerning returned soldier patients. Perhaps no other action taken in the interests of our returned men was of such vital moment and. so humane as that voiced by Mr. Alexander in the Legislative Council. Dr. Gray, DirectorGeneral of Mental Hospitals, has been working lip against a most formidable obstacle in the want of proper accommodation for the large increase of patients at the hospital, but whose assiduous interest and attention for the welfare of the patients can well allay any fears of relatives as to the care exercised within. e. NICOL, Hon. Secretary, Soldiers' Mothers' League.
