TRAM ROUTES.
I understood new methods were to be introduced by the new Transport Board. If we are to continue the present method of transport by trams why pull existing lines up? Why not use the circular system ? The old Grey Lynn terminus was at the spot on which the present Richmond Road terminus stands. Instead of leaving the lines down and running a circular trip, Great North Road via Richmond Road and vice versa, a few hundred yards of line are pulled up, leaving another dead end. If wo are to have penny fares, which paid handsomely when private enterprise had charge (with about half the present customers), some of the enormous amount of wasted time and the many dead ends must be eliminated. Our present tram system lends itself admirably to a circular system, which would give a better servico at no additional cost. R. STEWART.
