THEATRICAL ROMANCE.

Of interest in the theatrical world is the engagement announced last evening of Miss Diana du Cane, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis du Cane,' of London, to Mr. Lan Maxwell Gibson, of Sydney. Miss du Cane takes a prominent part in the "Roberta" Company now playing at His Majesty's Theatre and recently spent five weeks in Australia, under •contract to J. C. Williamson, Limited. Mr. Maxwell is well known in the social life of Sydney and as a keen golfer. He is at present visiting Auckland on a business trip. After the performance last evening Miss du Cane and Mr. Maxwell entertained the members of the company at a supper party. ,
