LABOUR PLEDGES.

Only a few weeks have passed since Labour won a great victory on the Auckland Transport Board, but in those few week 3 those men and their unwise actions have done more harm to the party than any opposition could have done in as many months. Will someone please tell mo what promise the Labour party has kept since it gained a majority on tho board. Wage cuts ? Yes, they have restored the chairman's honorarium to £300 instead of £300 less 5 per cent. At the first meeting we were assured that "the public was going to be allowed at every meeting and there was tee much going on in committee," but I venture to say that tihe public hears less of the board now than ever before. As for the report on administration, it apparently contains only two recommendations, and both apparently anti-Labour. The board received the report in committee and after dissecting it, so that the public would not learn too much, it _waa brought before the Press representatives. Originally the Labour members pledged themselves to cut down administration costs wherever possible, and in the skeleton report they recommend merging offices when they become vacant. If that will be possible later, then it must be possible now. That is only a fraction of the party's campaign pledges, and tho public is only just waking up. I hope the attitude to the other pledges will be a little more Labour-like. S*®"
