MOTION DEFEATED.

LIVESTOCK EMBARGO. By a. majority of one vote —0 against s— the annual meeting of the Auckland Provincial Council of the A. and P. Association this afternoon decided against a motion in favour of lifting the embargo on the importation of livestock and doubling the quarantine regulations. Some of the delegates preseut did not vote.

.Mr. W. C. Wallace, who moved the motion, said that animals were coining into the country despite the embargo. It would be far better to raise the. embargo, import tho animals direct, and to double the quarantine regulations.

After further discussion the motion was put and defeated.
