ROTORUA, this day, A conviction, which the magistrate said would be. a sufficient warning to the public, was imposed by Mr. S. L. Paterson. S.M.. in the Court this morning on three relief workers, K. W. Judge, S. W. Jones and J. Macallistcr, who admitted trespassing on the State Forest Reserve at Murnpara.
Mr. J. D. Davys, for the defendants, said that tlie men liad seen Admiral Burges Watson shooting on the reserve, with a permit, and had accordingly gone into the forestry area in an effort to secure a pig as food for their families. Their clog had caught one pig when they were accosted by the forest ranker.
Senior Sergeant Carroll said the Department wished it to be made plain that trespass on the forest reserves without a permit must be checked. Mr. Davys suggested that a conviction without a penalty would serve the purpose of a warning and the magistrate adopted this course.
