THEFT OF TIKI.
MAORI CONVICTED. Pleading guilty to the theft of a greenstone tiki on a silver chain, of a total value of 26/. at Manure on December 20, a Maori named Haki Waikato, aged r (K single, was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment with hard labour at the Jnohunga Police Court this morning. He also pleaded guilty to a further charge of failing to pay £3 taxi hire and was ordered to pay the amount, and was fined £1 and _l»/6 costs by the presiding J.P.'s, Messrs. J. E. Green and T. H. Geraghty. Sergeant S. A. Brown said that accused had a list of previous convictions. '
