COOLER WEATHER.
FAIRLY FINE WEEK-END.
LITTLE-RAIN RECORDED.
Fairly fine, thought dull weather was experienced in Auckland over the weekend; and temperatures were : n6ticeably lower. . There was no rain recorded at Albert Park in the 24-hour period ended' at 9 this- morning. There has been eleven days with rain this month, the total fall being 8.39 in, compared with the.-February average of 3.18 in. This morning the wind was. northwest, with a moderate breeze. The picnic season was in full swing yesterday, and there were many people at the various beach resorts. :• Bathers found the water cooler than it has been' since Christmas. Although no rain was recorded at Albert Park, light rain fell in some suburbs about 11 a.m. yesterday, and at Takapuna there was a brief downpour soon after noon.
HEAVY THUNDERSTORM. HAIL AT MEADOWBANK. A heavy thunderstorm passed over portions of Auckland shortly after noon to-day. In the city one loud peal of thunder was noticed, but there was no rain. In the Mount Eden district and adjoining areas heavy rain fell to the accompaniment of thunder. In the vicinity of Meadowbank the rainfall was torrential, and the centre of the storm area appeared to be overhead. When the rain ceased,' large areas were white with hail."' '■
