PAPATOETOE RESERVES.
SUNDAY CYCLING PRACTICE. At the meeting of the Papatoetoe Town Board last evening, Mr. A. A. Civil suggested that permission be granted the Papatoetoe Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club to use the Papatoetoe cycle track on Sunday mornings. Mr. Civil stated that the track would be used for practice only by actual members of the club, and not after 11.30 a.m. Tho chairman, Mr. W. .T. Nicholson, stated that •.Sunday games and practices on tho Papatoetoe reserves were definitely barred, and that in deference to tho ratepayers living near the reserves the board could not, as yet, amend the by-laws. A proposal for the erection of a dressing shed at the stadium ' was referred to the reserves committee for report. Mr. Civil reported that the local cricket club had experienced some difficulty in arranging for junior cricket matches to be played on the local grounds on account of travelling expenses and ground fees. It was stated that the fees for last year were (kl per player per game. The board decided to reduce the charge for junior players to 3d. Application for permission to use the Great South Road recreation reserve on Saturday, November 24, for the purpose of a competition, was made by the Auckland/suburban fire brigade demonstration committee. The committee proposed to close the ground and charge (id admission. Permission was granted subject to arrangements being made with the Papatoetoe Cricket Club.
