SALESMAN FOUND GUILTY.
FALSE PRETENCES CHARGES. (By Telegraph-—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCIi, Tuesday. A verdict of guilty was returned in the case in the Supreme Court in which George Macdonald Hamilton (33), a salesman, was charged with obtaining money by false pretences. > The charges were to the effect that Hamilton represented falsely that he was in the employ of Commonwealth Underwriters, Limited, of Auckland, who acted as agents for Timberlands Woodpulps, Limited, and that lie sold to five people bonds in the latter company, involving £105. Hamilton was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent. His Honor said that Hamilton had been given probation on a previous conviction for false pretences. The present charges arose from deliberate actions.
