TALLOW, HEMP, APPLES. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The Department of Agriculture line received the following cablegram, dated July 21, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Tallow. —No auction this week. Spot business continues in good colour sorts. Low grades neglected. Values about unchanged. Hemp.—Manila: Market quiet, but steady, with values unchanged. Sisal: Market dull and easier at lower prices. July-September and August-October shipments sold at £14 7/6. New Zealand: Market dull, with no first-hand sales reported. Apples.—-Cargoes of Irojan Star at Avonmouth and Turakina at Manchester in good condition, except for Statesman, which are partly waety. Steady demand. Current prices are:—Dunn's Favourite, 7/ to 0/; Home Beauty, 9/ to 0/6; Delicious, 8/ to 10/6;' Ballarat, 10/6 to 11/; Dougherty, 10/ to 13/; Granny Smith, 12/ to 17/6; Statesman, 9/ to 12/; Stunner, Yates, Tasma and Rokewood, 10/ to 12/. PRICE OF GOLD. LONDON, July 23. Fine gold is quoted to-day at £6 17/10% an ounce. BRADFORD QUIET. (Received 11 n.m.) LONDON, July 23. Bradford is quiet and it is difficult to get 28d for C4's. APPLES IN LONDON. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, July 23. The Port Hobart, Port Curtis and Fordsdale's New Zealand apples sold as follow:— Granny Smith, 14/ to 17/ release; Sturmers, 9/6 to 12/; Delicious, 9/3 to 10/; Doherty, 9/6 to 11/3; llokewood, 10/6 to 11/9. WHEAT CARGOES, ETC. (Received 11 n.m.) LONDON, July 23. Cargoes are in firm tone and parcels fully steady. ■ Futures —London: September, 22/4% per quarter; December, 23/8%.
