VESSELS DELAYED.
WAIPIATA LEAVES PORT.
MEN'S OFFER DECLINED.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHiRISTGHUHCH, this day.
Following the dispute concerning the loading of the steamer Waipiata and the discharging of the Wingatui yesterday, the Waipiata was dispatched last evening for Wellington. She left some ci her cargo at Lyttelton.
The Wingatui remained in port overnight and was made a "preference" ship. This morning when a call was made for the Wingatui the men who were at work yesterday offered themselves for re-engagement, but the Union Company's foreman, it is stated, declined to accept them. No other watersiders offered themselves.
The only other labour engaged to-day consisted of two gangs for the Rangatira and two gangs for the Tees. This means a delay of several vessels in port.
