CIVIC RECEPTIONS.
MISS BATTEN DUE MONDAY. REV. F. W. NORWOOD'S TOUR. Two civic receptions will be tendered by the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. O. Ws Hutchison, at the Town Ilall on Monday, one to the Rev. F. \Y. Norwood, l).l)., and the other to Miss Jean Batten. Citizens are invited to be present at both gatherings. The civic reception to Mr. Norwood will be held at mid-day at the Concert Chamber. The visitor, who belongs to the City Temple, London, is 011 a world tour in the interests of world peace. The attention of the public to tlio reception is called by the Auckland Council of Christian Congregations and the Auckland Ministers' Association.
The reception to Miss Batten will lie held in the large Town Hall at 12.H0. The inline of the young Auckland aviatrix, who succeeded in her determination to fly solo from England to Australia after two crashes, has heen continually before the public for several weeks and it is expected that lier reception will lie one of the most enthusiastic ever witnessed in Auckland.
