TEAM SUSPENDED

Hamilton Soccer Trouble — Club and Controllers at Odds. (By lolograph.--Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. A sensation lias, been cruised by the suspension for an indefinite period of tlie Hamilton Wanderers' Club by the South AueKland Football Association as a result of the club's refusal to withdraw a statement contained in a letter to the association. The trouble arose from a difference of opinion at the annual meeting of the association in April, when Mr. Sherran, a delegate from the Starr Town Club, contended that his club had been runm* tip for the senior championship the previous season, a distinction which had been claimed bv the Hamilton Wanderers' Club. He expressed the view that the Wanderers' claim, published in the club's annual report, was erroneous. On that occasion the secretary of the association, Mr. F. W. Mead, informed the meeting that the association was not responsibly for the claim made by the Wanderers. Mr. Sherran accepted the explanation, and as far as the association was concerned the incident was closed. Subsequently the Wanderers wrote to the association intimating that they passed a resolution inquiring why a false statement was made by the Starr 'lowu delegate at the annual meeting. Since receipt of the letter the controlling body has declined to discuss the question until the Wanderers' Club withdraws the words, "false statement." For several weeks futile efforts have been made to bring about a reconciliation. The suspension comes into force at mid-day to-day, and will mean that the club's senior team and officials are debarred from participating in games or management. The penalty does not apply to the club's intermediate team. Asked for the club's viewpoint, the wanderers' secretary said he had no comment to make other than that the club intended to appeal to the New Zealand Council.
