SOCCER FOOTBALL.
DATE FOR REP. GAME.
CHATHAM CUP FIXTURES.
The representative game between Wellington anil Auckland, which liacl been fixed for July 21 for the English iropliy, clashes with the date for the final of the Chatham Cup games at Hamilton. J.he control board of the Auckland Football Association' decided last evening to te egraph the Wellington Association and the New Zealand Council to see whether the English Trophy match could be arranged for July 14 at Blandford Park.
If a draw at full time occurs, requiring extra time to be played in the Chatham Cup fixture set down at Blandford Park for 3 p.m. on Saturday, it is necessary that the game start promptly. The early match must therefore kick off sharply at 1.30 p.m. to allow the big game to start on time. The New Zealand Council sent its congratulations to tile board on the fact that there were 132 teams playing in the code in Auckland. . ' It was decided to communicate with the Wellington Association along the lines oL' a recommendation from the minor division committee that an inquiry be made for a team of players under 21 years ot age to come with the Wellington team to Auckland for the Flyger Cup competition. It was considered that such a match would make a fine curtain-raiser for the big match.
The allotment of grounds was discussed at considerable length owing to a report from the control board anil the division committees. Recommendations to play liome-and-away matches on suburban grounds and also senior games at the Domain and Victoria Park had been forwarded to the grounds committee, which had been given sole prerogative iu the fixing of grounds. The committee said that they hoped to carry out the recommendations at an early date.
The New Zealand Council, while sympathising with the local association's suggestion regarding the appointment of coaches to tour the Dominion, advised that it could not see its way clear to further the proposal. The following officials were appointed to grounds for Saturdayßlandford Park, Messrs. lo}. Adams, W. Walker; Western Springs. Sir. W. E. Smytheman; North Shore, Mr. P. Neesliam; Domain, Mr. L. Munro.
