WELLINGTON V. TARANAKI.

BLACKS WIN NEAR TIME. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAWERA, this day. ' A try scored seven mirutes before full time gave a victory yesterday afternoon to the Wellington Rugby representatives, who registered 13 points (three tries, two of which were converted) to Taranaki's 11 points (two tries, one converted, and a penalty goal). Taranaki (amber and black) opened the scoring with n try by the wing threequarter Ford, Collins converting. Wellington (black) replied with a try by Barry which was converted by Griffiths, who also added a goal to a penalty try by Deliabarca, but a try by Young and a penalty goal by Collins left the half-time score at 11 points to 10 in Taranaki's favour. The second spell was keenly fought without result till the dying moments, when Barry beat the defenders to the rolling ball and notched the deciding try. BUSH BEATS WAIRARAPA. CARTERTON, this day. The Bush District Rugby team defeated Wairarapa at Carterton yesterday by 8 points to 5. Evidently it was Wajrarapa's unlucky -day, for they crossed 'the line seven times in the first spell without scoring, and did not score until late in the second spell. The Bush backs started a rush which enabled Mahoney to score in a good position, Udy converting. A few minutes later Booth was caught offside under the goal and Udy again scored a goal. With 10 minutes to go a brilliant back movement by Wairarapa saw Booth cross nt the corner and dodge his way to the goal. Fitzgerald converted. , Mr. 11. J. McKenzie was the referee.
