COMBINED HOCKEY BALL.

ANIMATED SCENE. Last evening the combined Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association and the Auckland Hockey Association gave a most enjoyable and successful hockey ball at the Peter Pan Cabaret to celebrate Country Week, when a large number of country representative teams come annually to Auckland to compete in a series of matches for much coveted trophies. All the visiting players were the guests of the two associations, who had done everything possible to make the function a successful one. Mr. L. C. Kent, the president of the Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association, received the guests as they arrived, and expressed great pleasure at the large number of country players present. During the evening Miss Natalie Stratton and Mr. M. Stratton gave two muchappreciated exhibitions of modern ballroom dancing. Mr. J. Walton executed an intricate solo tap dance, after which he was joined by Mr. and Miss Stratton and two little girls, Misses Joan McAlpino and Phyllis McCarthy, and a song and dance number was given. The arrangements for the .evening were in very capable hands, the ladies' committee being responsible for the buffet supper. The committee comprised Mrs. A. Wylie, who wore a frock of daffodil and white floral georgette; Miss G. Twiname, black lace; Miss E. Jeffreys, white chiffon velvet; Miss E. Burton, scarlet crepe suede; Miss E.
