MOUNT EDEN RATES.

TO BE SAME AS LAST YEAR. The general rate for the Mount Eden borough for 1934-35 is to be 4/3 in the £1, the same as last year. This was decided at a meeting of the council held last evening. Mr. F. C. Battley, chairman of the finance committee, said that the adjustment of valuations in the borough showed a decrease of £18,000 on the capital value. This would bo equivalent to a rise of 3d in the £1 in the general rate. The success of the completion of £790,000 loan conversions and other economies effected enabled the council to strike the same rate as last year, 4/3 in the £1.
