DESPICABLE THEFT.
PRINCE OF WALES' CARD. TAKEN FROM MUSEUM. A despicable tlieft has been committed at the Auckland War Memorial Museum. When the Prince of Wales was made an honorary member of the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association during his visit in 1920, he signed an ordinary membership card, and this was subsequently presented to the museum.' The card was framed and secured by screws to a wall in the War Trophy Hall, from which it has been removed.
In reporting the occurrence to the council of tho Auckland Institute and Museum yesterday, the director, Mr. G. Archcy, said the theft had evidently been carried out by some person who entered the museum for the purpose. The exhibit was in a rather remote part of the hall, and the thief had removed the screws from the frame to obtain the card. He had notified the police and the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association, which had issued a circular notifying its members of the theft.
