HIDING IN LONDON?
America's Elusive .Criminal, Dillinger. SCOTLAND YARD ACTION. LONDON, May 29. A tremendous comb-out was conducted in London by detectives, specially armed, after a report had been received that the notorious American gangster, Dillinger, was in hiding. Scotland Yard mobilised its entire flying squad and requisitioned radio cars from 23 London divisions. The Scotland Yard chiefs held a conference, after which a ring was made around London with a special and searching comb-out south of the Thames. Many rumours had recently reached the British police about Dillinger. They were not taken seriously until to-day's authentic information. All cars were in constant wireless communication with headquarters, and messages were continually flashed from district to district. A man who Knew Dillinger well in the United States declared he saw him in London last week, and gave a detailed statement to the detectives, but the authorities at Washington are convinced that Dillinger is still ill the United States.
