AUSTRALIAN ISSUE. Country and United Factions Exchange Views. FORMING ANTI-LABOUR BLOC. (United F.A.-Electric Telegraph-Copyright) (Received 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. | Dr. Earlc Page, leader of the Federal United Country party, has rejected the suggestion of Mr. J. A. Lyons, that complete union of the organisations is the only basis foxagreement to form an anti-Laboui* bloc in the forthcoming elections. Dr. Page said that to revive the old argument between the parties on the subject of amalgamation, with all its inevitable recriminations, on the eve of the election would be the most certain way of making a present of the election to "the Labour forces. The Country party was willing to discuss with the United Australia party tlio whole question of major policy on which the election should be contested. Tlio Country party asked only for a common understanding on major policy and for joint Senate teams throughout Australia.
