MOUNT VICTORIA SIGNAL STATION.

From to-day the arrival and departure of vessels in the harbour and the general supervision of the movements of all descriptions of craft, for so long carried out by" the Harbour Board's staff from the tower on the King's Wharf will be done from Mount Victoria, where the staff took over at midnight last night. The importance of this strict supervision is realised by yachtsmen who have had occasion to be grateful for the prompt assistance rendered in time of need. Speaking at the presentation of prizes of the Northcote regatta last evening, Captain Sergeant raised a laugh by saying that when yachtsmen were late in returning, anxious wives and sweethearts could rely on a very close watch being kept over their movements.
