At Woodville carpenters and bricklayers were working yesterday at 1"1 pressure, but it will be weeks before e restoration is complete. Many hundreds of chimneys require rebuilding. Uain yesterday caused damage through leakage and some premises were swamped, on y one firm carried an earthquake insurance risk. The damage will exceed fOIHJU. MAKING BUILDINGS SAFE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANG AN UI, this day. The City Council staff to-day made an inspection of brick business premisewith overhanging frontal decorations and advice was given for immediate iepairs or removal in tlie interests public safety. . , Telephone and electric light and power services have been restored. Brie • layers and others were fully employed removing and re-orecting scores of damaged chimney tops, and glaziers are busy with damaged plate glass windows, -he upper Aramoho Road is being diverted owing to a slip on the river bank at Upokongaro.
