HOTEL TRANSFERS.

LICENSING APPLICATIONS. AUCKLAND COMMITTEE MEETS. The quarterly meeting of the Auckland Licensing Committee was held at noon to-day, the chairman, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., presiding. The following transfers were granted: — Hotel Auckland, from Peter Scott Ramsay to Edward John Pliclan; Carpenters' Arms Hotel, from Ernest Stanley Trainer to William Cleary; Rising Sun Hotel, Newton, from Frank Brown to James Pennington Bates. The clerk of the committee, Mr. J. C. Malfroy, reported that the police reports regarding the hotels wero generally fair. Mr. Wyvern Wilson commented that the reports were satisfactory. Most of the hotels, he said, seemed to be well conducted, although several were reported as "fair." As usual, there had been a number of convictions resulting from persons being found on licensed premises, and it seemed that the police were doing their duty in maintaining supervision. Where there had been breaches of the law, action was being taken.
