HELP WANTED.

DAIRY INDUSTRY.

ROUND TABLE CONFERENCE?

PREMIER'S SUGGESTION.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON', this day.

Replying to a deputation from the Farmers' Union which waited on him to-day urging the setting up of a Royal Commission to investigate the plight of the dairy industry, the Prime Minister, the Rt. Eon. G. W. Forbes, suggested that there shoud be a round table conference between the members of the Government, the Farmers' Union and the Dairy Board to sec what could be done to improve the outlook. Jlr. Forbes emphasised the Government's sympathy for the dairy farmers, and said he thought that better results could be accomplished by a round table conference than by the appointment of a Roval Commission. If the conference was held they would have the opinions of men who had a first-class knowledge of the conditions in the industry. Mr. W. .T. Poison eaid the union would welcome the Prime Minister's proposal, as it was imperative that something should be done immediately to ease the position of the dairy farmers. He hoped the quota as well as other aspects would be dealt with by the conference.
