TAKAPUNA BOROUGH.
The Takapuna Borough Council met last evening. The Mayor, Mr. J. Guiniven, presided.
Wairau Estuary.—Owing to complaints of obstructions in the Wairau Estuary, it was resolved that a sign should be erected stating that persons placing stones in the estuary will be prosecuted. Restoring Cuts.—The Mayor said that the reducing of wages had done no good at all. He considered that a conference of local bodies should agree on a higher rate of pay all round and that the Government be asked seriously to co-operate. Mr. M. L. Wilkins said that the movement must be national. The Mayor of Auckland is to be asked to call a conference of local bodies to consider the matter. Removal of Rubbish.—lt was decided to insist that the truck used for the removal of garbage from houses should bocovered. For the . ke of both sanitation and app?arance it was considered desirable that i -ne care be exercised in rubbish collections.
