FATAL DESCENT.

Russian Balloonists Killed After Making Record. END OF 12.8 MILE ASCENT. (Received 10.30 n.m.) MOSCOW, January 31. The crew of tliree •of the balloon Sirius, which established a world height record of 12.8 miles, were killed when their gondola became detached.. The bodies were found in the wreckage of the gondola at Potijsky, eight miles south of Kadoshkino. It is believed that the balloonists were attempting to land when a sudden squall wrenched off the gondola, which fell an unknown height. The envelope of the balloon was blown away. Eye-witnesses declare that the balloon was* falling when two explosions, took place, followed by a crash. The envelope was torn off and all the instruments were destroyed. The three aeronauts will be buried in the Kremlin Wall, facing Red Square.
