OVERHEAD BRIDGE WANTED. HALF-HOLIDAY FIXED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WARE'WORTH, Thursdav. The Railways Department is to be asked to reduce the speed of trains at the Hoteo level crossing, where a fatal accident occurred recently, according to a decision of tlie Rodney County Council yesterday. A reply was receive.! from the Railways Department to tho council's suggestion for improvements t > the crossing. The council considered the Department's proposals unreasonable, and instructed the engineer t:> report on an overhead bridge and a new outlet from the station. The Te Hana branch of the Farmers' Union asked that the Te HanaTomorata Road be metalled, as thiroad would be the route used for th<j transport of a large quantity of cream in the event of a new butter factory being erected at Tel Hana. It was decided to reply that the council would endeavour to have the work done l\y relief labour when the present relief works were completed. A letter was received from the Ivaipara Flats branch of the Farmers' Union asking the council to make representations to the Government in favour of the total derating of farm lands. Xo action was taken. A deputation from the Wellsford Progressive League asked that the county half-holiday be fixed on Thursday, as in 1933, and a eountcrdeputation urged that the Saturday half-holiday be restored. The council unanimously fixed the half-holiday oil Thursday. It was reported that about 200 ratepayers had signed the petition asking that the Rodney County be included in the Waitcmata clcctric power district.
