UNION OIL COMPANY. l DIVIDEND 1/3 A SHARE. The annual meeting of shareholders in Union Oil, Soap and Candle Company was held yesterday. The accounts for the year ended September 30 showed, after providing £1643 for depreciation, and £2000 for income tax, there was a net profit of £4676, a reduction of £1164 on last year's amount. With £1463 brought into the accounts there was £6139 available. The meeting approved of a final dividend of 9d a share, making, with the interim dividend of 6d a share previously paid. 1/3 a share for the year. The year's dividend requires £4088, leaving £1451 to be carried forwrad to next year's accounts.
The retiring director. Mr. E. W. Evans. was re-elected, and Mr. H. R. J. Short was appointed auditor. Last year the company paid a dividend of 1/6 a share.
NORTH BROKEN HILL. DIVIDEND AND BONUS. (By TelegrapTi.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. North Broken Hill, Ltd., has advised the Stock Exchange Association that the direc-tors have declared a dividend of 1/ a share, together with a bonus of 6d a share, payable in Melbourne on December 12.
This is tha second dividend announced since the company's year ended on June 30, during which 1,5 per cent was distributed in three dividends of 1/ each. The last dividend, paid on September 29, was 1/ a share. MELBOURNE "HERALD." The balance-sheet of the ''Herald" and "Weekly Times," Limited, shows a profit for the year ended September 'M, including investments of £14U,GS3. This is £12,203 more than in the previous year.
