EXPORT FRUIT POOLS.

GROWERS' REFERENDUM. — A majority of fruit growers registered their votes against the practice of pooling fruit for export. The referendum was conducted under the auspices of the New Zealand Fruit Export Control Board in conjunction with the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Federation. In the past, growers have pooled their fruit according to variety, grade and size, separate pools being conducted in each fruit-growing district. The result of the referendum will not necessarily mean that the pooling system will lie abandoned, as it is intended only to act as a guide to the Fruit Export Coniro] Board. Detailed results of the voting are as follows:— For Against District. Pooling. Pooling. Auckland 03 36 Poverty Bar 1 n Ilawke's Bay 5." 46 Wellington 4 4 Nelson 107 12" Blenheim 1 20 Canterbury 9 22 Totals »*........... 230 254
